Each Office has a particular intention:

  • Lauds - we give thanks for our creation, preservation, vocation; the blessing of grace and for the hope of glory; for the unity of the Church and the peace of the world; for all in danger or distress

  • Midday Office - we pray in union with the Passion of our Lord; for those who hate or ignore Christ; for those bound to him and to us by ties of love; for those now sharing his suffering and death

  • Vespers - we adore God, in union with all who worship Him, in time and in eternity

  • Compline - we pray for all the departed; for those who are working at night; for the starving, homeless and tempted and, for us all, repentance and confidence in God.

At 3 pm the chapel bell is rung to mark the hour of None and a prayer is said wherever the Sisters may be.

Fridays are kept as special days of prayer, silence and fasting, with an intention for a current world need.

In addition to their corporate worship, the Sisters have an hour's personal prayer before Lauds and after Vespers and their manual work in the house and garden is an important and necessary part of monastic life and prayer.
